Welcome to a Top Idaho Ski Resort
Schweitzer has the largest ski area in both Washington and Idaho. It rests on Selkirk Mountain just above the Sandpoint lake community. Lake Idaho endows an even more stunning view, stretching out from the mountain’s foot. On a clear day, Canada can be seen with the naked eye.
There’s no denying that Schweitzer can well be the pearl of Selkirk Mountain. But the scenery isn’t the only thing that makes it so extraordinary. The whole place has a low-key vibe. That isn’t at all bad, however. For one, the terrain isn’t overrun with tourists, so there’s enough room for everybody.
Unlike many resorts, Schweitzer is a place for skiing. It’s focused primarily on giving visitors exceptional ski tracks. So, there’s no spending an entire vacation shopping. In fact, the skiing area is owned independently since 1963.
Dining and Après Destinations to Consider
Arguably the most scenic location to dine while at Idaho’s hidden treasure is the Sky House. It’s high up on the mountain and allows panoramic views of the whole area. You can even catch a glimpse of Washington and Montana on a clear day.
If you’re not all about the view, be sure to visit The Outback. A casual, laidback atmosphere complements a grab-and-go meal on the backside of the Schweitzer. Retro skis and boards add up to an unconventional interior. And if you want a fancy drink, the Crow’s Bench, located inside the Humbird hotel, is the place for you.
